It’s getting exciting around. Blackberries and muscadines are growing like crazy. Compost is being made, and sunflowers are popping up all around. The sunflowers are from black oil sunflower seed that I sprout for my chickens.

Fall Garden Project
This really a test vlog with my new early Christmas present. I love my family even more for getting me a GoPro. A quick post about my future garden beds. Of course it’s going to be a poly-culture with a few apple trees.
Permaculture Zone 0
I currently live in the house that I grew up in. Before I move on to such things like water collecting and solar, I need to upgrade the energy efficiency. I will soon start the project of replacing siding for a more rustic farm house look. While increasing the insulation in the walls and ceiling.
Do the Work.
The election is over, and if your person won or not. In the broad scheme of things it don’t matter much. The work is never done. Trees must be planted. Animals must be feed. Silkies are my new favorite chicken breeds. They are too cute and even though small they are egg machines.
Corn Sprouts Day Three.
Corn is sprouting, but not as good as I would like. My idea was sprouting corn because I have grown it many times before. Black oil sunflower did much better, and I have grown sunflowers many time before also. Also there is no “GMO” with sunflower.

Corn Sprouts Experiment Day 2
Katie, Becca, and I continue the corn sprouting experiment. We drain, and rinse the soaked corn. Hopefully it will sprout in a few days. Afterwards we’ll feed it to the animals.
New Sprouts Experiment.
I’m going to try to sprout corn for feed. I know many would say, “Corn GMO”. It’s an experiment. If it works I can grow corn easily. Also I’m teaching Katie and Becca how to take care of the animals.
Dealing with Losses.
You want to start homesteading. Brace yourself you will have losses. I love watching chicks popping and hatching. I hate losing some. But lose some you will. So start small. Losing a chick is a lot easier and less expensive than losing a calf or goat. Focus on the victories. Don’t dwell on the losses. Have fun.
A Trip to a Local Orchard.
My chicken mix I feed my chickens. Also I discuss the pro and cons of a local orchard my family visited. How Permaculture does it better and what we can learn.
Mosquito Repellent and New Arrivals.
Mosquitoes are horrible this year. It’s miserable just going out side, so I mixed up some DIY repellent. For bonus I have new chicks and rabbits.
