Homesteading or being is a journey. Sometimes it’s smooth sailing, and other bumps in the road at every turn. Ups and downs are around every turn. My first ever successful rooting of flowering shrubs. The flip side minimal success with the garden. Last of the medium/large livestock after my goat and Great Pyrenees die. Just remember when you fail fail forward. Garden and such was not successful, but quality of life is at a all time high.
Propagation
Root Stock and Roses
If you have watched any of my videos you know I like growing for free. Plant propagation is an great way to extend a buck or 20 on your food forest. I noticed that an apple tree on a semi dwarf root stock sent up shoots. I will take you through my plan to start propagation of my own root stock from that shoot. Also I show you a rose that my mother’s mother gave her is layered.
Nature’s Fruit
What’s better than fresh fruit. Free fresh fruit provided by nature. “Wild” fruit is well adapted to your local climate, and is one important component of Permaculture. Muscadies are North America’s native grapes, and can make a great wine. Jams and jellies can be made from black berries and muscadines. I plan to encourage these two fruits to grow, but how I want it to. I’m thinking a food hedge along the perimeter of my property for some security. And it’s FREE!!!
